From Monday October 19, 2009 to Friday, October 23, 2009, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, in partnership with its Music Engineering Department will present the 2009[2nd] Shanghai International Electroacoustic Music Week. This Music Week is co-organized by PRISMA, Oriental Digital Media Research and Development Center and Electroacoustic Music Laboratory of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music; sponsored by the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai.
The 2009[2nd] Shanghai International Electroacoustic Music Week keeps the good tradition and same scale as the Music Week last time in 2006. The Music Week this year includes 4 thematic concerts, 4 academic exchange concerts , more than 10 series of workshops , 6 lectures and a 3-day international seminar. During this Music Week, the special guest, PRISMA Association will arrange for scholars from different countries to give lectures or workshops on electro-acoustic music in Shanghai. The musicians and artists from USA, Netherlands, and Germany, Hong Kong etc. as well as the teachers and students from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Central Conservatory of Music, the China Conservatory of Music and the Wuhan Conservatory of Music etc. will also be invited to participate in those academic activities.
The 2009 Shanghai International Electroacoustic Music Week is aimed to create the most internationalized and pioneering stage in electroacoustic music area so that the latest electroacoustic music works can be presented to the whole world from the China’s most cosmopolitan city, Shanghai. Meanwhile, the Music Week hopes to provide the Chinese composers and new-generation composers with a platform to present their own works.
